However, the most basic forms of\ntreatment include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Scaling and Root Planing<\/strong> \u2013 This deep\ncleaning procedure is intended to remove the mouth of all tartar and bacteria,\nespecially underneath the gum line. It also works to smooth out the tooth roots,\nwhich is necessary for helping them re-attach to teeth and preventing bacteria\nfrom clinging to them. <\/li><li><strong>Periodontal Maintenance <\/strong>\u2013 Scaling and\nroot planing need to be performed once every three to four months as the gums\nrequire time to heal in between treatments. <\/li><li><strong>At-Home Oral Hygiene<\/strong> \u2013 The periodontist\nyou see will go over proper at-home oral hygiene.
